Things I learned at Kanarraville Falls

1. Don't believe the online map. Even though it says that you can drive up to the trailhead . . . you really can't! You have to hike about .6 miles to the trailhead, which is quite an added climb seeing that the trail takes 4 hours. But that's O.K. because we are all tough!

2. I am tough! I carried Miss plump Ada ( along with all the water) almost the entire time!

3. Lamon is tougher.

4. Drew takes the prize! He is the toughest of us all! Our little Drew boy is such a good hiker. He hiked the whole hike (more than 5 hours worth) without complaining, and insisting on doing everything himself. He is so awesome!

5. Hayden may be a lightweight, but he still gets heavy when you have to carry him for hours and hours on your shoulders . . . and . . . he does not like long hikes much . . .

6. Kanarraville is my new favorite hike! It is soooo beautiful, and we had so much fun. We loved it!

  1. You guys do so many cool hikes!! But I don't know where this place is. What type of baby backpack do you have for Ada?? We are in the market for a good one and I was wondering how you like yours.

  2. I love this hike too! We hiked it a few times when I lived in Cedar City. I love reading about your family! You guys are super active! I must say I'm impressed doing everything you do with 3 kids!

  3. I am so glad that you guys did it. I have been wanting to do this hike forever. That Drew is amazing. I can't believe he did it all himself. What a stud. I am excited to hear all about it.

  5. Well, now that I'm in SUCH incredible shape....maybe even I could try a hike that Drew goes on. I remember the last time we went to the Kolob Canyon area I remember seeing two rattle snakes! Did you or have you even run across snakes in your hiking experiences? That would be one of the biggest deterrents for me.

  6. Nope, no snakes. Well, I take that back. We have had one rattle snake in our neighborhood, and the other day Drew, Hayden, and I saw a 4 foot king snake on our way home from quail res. about a month ago. I am paranoid about snakes also but love the hikes around here. Dad, the canyon that contains this slot is about five miles north of the Kolob Canyon entrance to Zion. About 30 min. drive from our place.
